  • Transfer of credit from StraighterLine to Middlesex is based on our general practice of recognizing American Council
on Education credit recommendations, which we also use for Advanced Placement, CLEP exams, and Joint
    Services Transcripts from the military.
  • Selected courses that are preapproved for transfer credit are listed in the course equivalency table below.
Students should contact the Credit for Prior Learning Coordinator at Middlesex before considering any other
courses not on the preapproved list.
  • MCC's acceptance of credits from StraighterLine does not guarantee or imply that they will be accepted by another

this type of credit without prior approval, if at all.

Your Questions Matter, Ask Us Anything

How can I use StraighterLine to earn credits toward my degree at Middlesex Community College?

StraighterLine gives you a flexible, affordable option for online college credit. As a StraighterLine partner school, Middlesex Community College has approved select courses for transfer credit. Those courses are specified above under “Course Equivalency.” To earn credit, all you have to do is enroll in the StraighterLine courses that align with your degree program and pass with a grade of 70% or better. Once you're done, it’s as simple as requesting a transcript to be sent to your school.

What’s included in my StraighterLine membership?

Great question! All membership plans will give you access to our catalog of 75+ affordable college courses — which plan you choose will depend on your pace and how many courses you’d like to take. Every course is 100% online and fully self-paced with all digital textbooks and course materials included. Your membership also includes benefits like academic advising, 24/7 on-demand online tutoring, and transcript delivery to your school. Find the membership plan that works best for you.

Do StraighterLine courses match the quality of courses at Middlesex Community College?

We understand students want to get the most out of their education — that’s why we make the quality of our courses a top priority.

All StraighterLine courses have been reviewed and recommended by the American Council on Education (ACE). On top of that, our partner colleges assess each course before approving it for transfer. Because of this, you can trust that the course curriculum, learning outcomes, and assessments uphold quality standards set by Middlesex Community College.

How do I transfer my StraighterLine credits to Middlesex Community College?

Transferring to a partner school is easy! Once you’ve passed your course with a grade of 70% or higher, all you have to do is log in to your StraighterLine account and request an official transcript. Just let us know where to send your transcript, and we’ll handle getting it sent to your school at no extra cost.

Once they’ve received your transcript, your school will review it and apply the credits toward your degree program.

Middlesex Advising Guidelines

  • Transfer of credit from StraighterLine to Middlesex is based on our general practice of recognizing American Council on Education credit recommendations, which we also use for Advanced Placement, CLEP exams, and Joint Services Transcripts from the military.
  • Selected courses that are preapproved for transfer credit are listed in the course equivalency table above. Students should contact the Credit for Prior Learning Coordinator at Middlesex before considering any other courses not on the preapproved list.
  • Students should always consult with MCC Admissions or Advising staff before taking courses from any other college or alternative provider to ensure applicability to their academic program requirements and plan of study.
  • Transfer of credit from any outside source is designated on Middlesex degree audits and transcripts with a TR or TS (for Transfer) instead of a letter grade. Degree audits and transcripts identify sources of outside credit by name, whether from other colleges or StraighterLine.
  • Credit recognition at Middlesex does not guarantee or imply credit transfer to any other colleges. Most regionally accredited colleges are looking for graded courses from other regionally accredited colleges and will have separate policies for American Council on Education credit recommendations. Students are responsible for determining whether StraighterLine partnerships exist for the colleges they will transfer to from Middlesex and, if so, how they work.
  • While MassTransfer is designed to streamline credit transfer to Massachusetts public colleges, registrars' offices from public and private colleges generally require graded courses from regionally accredited colleges.
  • Students must complete a minimum of 25% of their associate degree credits directly at MCC. This must include at least nine credits within their major. For certificate programs, students must complete a minimum of 75% of their credits directly at MCC.
  • StraighterLine tuition or fees are not covered by any Middlesex financial aid.
