Founded in 1864, Concordia University Chicago is a comprehensive, liberal arts–based university. Concordia equips men and women to serve and lead with integrity, creativity, competence and compassion in a diverse, interconnected, and increasingly urbanized world.

Concordia University Chicago was named the second fastest-growing campus among private nonprofit master’s institutions nationally by The Chronicle of Higher Education’s 2011 Almanac Edition. For the third consecutive year, combined undergraduate and graduate enrollment has exceeded more than 5,000 students. From 2004-2009, combined undergraduate and graduate enrollment grew 146 percent from 2,056 total students to 5,049.

U.S. News and World Report ranked Concordia University Chicago once again as a “Best Regional University” in the Midwest. Likewise, Concordia is among a select group of colleges named as a College of Distinction for demonstrating excellence in four areas of undergraduate distinction: engaged students, great teaching, vibrant community and successful outcomes.

Under the leadership of President John F. Johnson, Concordia has been named four times to the national President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for its extraordinary contributions to local and national needs through community service and learning. Its 40-acre campus in River Forest provides students with access to a close-knit community along with world-class opportunities, just 10 miles west of downtown Chicago.
