Scope of Work:

Qualified individuals will work with StraighterLine to expand course resources, keep courses current, add new features and develop new courses. The following tasks may be included in the scope of work:

  • Review/correction of test bank questions.
  • Creation of new/alternative test bank questions relevant to the content and text
  • Mapping of identified open educational resources to the course content and text
  • Mapping of free/open text books (as an alternative to the proprietary text(s) already mapped to the course content
  • Revision and update of exams
  • Review of lesson materials to identify gaps in content, errors in content, broken links and/or bugs
  • Development of alternative course formats
  • Identification , deployment and evaluation of new features
  • Creation of rubrics for final examinations (if applicable)
  • SMEs will be engaged on a weekly basis as required with SL staff to identify deliverables and coordinate changes.

This position will be expected to work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders, create internal reports, and present findings to internal stakeholders on a regular basis. The right candidate will have an opportunity to work at the cutting edge of online education.

StraighterLine is seeking a Senior BI Engineer that will be responsible for data analysis, problem solving, investigation and creative thinking using data as a focal point. This role is a key member of the core analytics team with substantial opportunity to impact business results and corresponding career and personal growth. The role requires working closely with the business to collect data needed for various operational needs through data exploration and once validated, building ETL processes into a scalable data warehouse environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain initial-load and incremental ETL processes
  • Function as a data expert to advise business analysts in the usage of the data
  • Respond to data queries/analysis requests from various groups within the company
  • Help optimize SQL queries and processes
  • Extract and analyze data from various sources, mostly MySQL databases using SQL, ETL and OLAP tools (Pentaho)
  • Identify data quality issues and their root causes
  • Analyze and capture meaningful and operationally actionable information from very large scale relational database
  • Document data requirements and process and validate data components as required
  • Represent technical projects and initiatives while understanding core business goals

Management Functions
  • Participate as a Senior Member of the Team responsible for website development on all corporate and related websites (ie: straighterline.com, seveneleven.straighterline.com, and associated landing pages.)
  • In conjunction with Product, Marketing, UI, and Human Interface Design Engineering, establish consistent “look and feel” throughout all sites.
  • Follow established departmental SDLC policies and procedures (ie: Agile/SCRUM, Jira Workflow.) Ensure adherence with more junior members of the team.
  • Develop web front-end infrastructure, utilize applications to ensure technical performance, and assess new technologies to fit StraighterLine’s needs.
