For Immediate Release October 17, 2013 BALTIMORE, MD – StraighterLine (www.straighterline.com) announced today they have launched 2 new STEM courses, Introduction to Computer Programming in C++ and Introduction to Statistics. These courses, like all of StraighterLine’s general education online college courses, have been evaluated and recommended by the American Council on Education’s College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE CREDIT®). Equally important, all StraighterLine courses exceed industry standards for identity verification. Introduction to Computer Programming in C++ is a 4-credit course that functions like a highly interactive lab course, with required assignments that will be graded by real course TAs. The course teaches core computer science concepts like variables, branching, loops, vectors, functions, code formatting and good coding practices. The course content is provided by Zyante, a publisher whose content is in use at leading US universities including University of Michigan, UC Davis and Arizona State University. For a limited time, StraighterLine is offering this course at an introductory price of only $99. Introduction to Statistics is a 3-credit course that provides students with a grounding in statistics and probability, which prepares them for a wide range of higher-level math, science and technology courses. Course content is provided by The Saylor Foundation, an educational non-profit who also provides StraighterLine’s Microbiology course content. By choosing to take Introduction to Statistics at StraighterLine, enrolled students may take the course for free, and need only pay the $25 proctoring fee for their final exam to earn college transfer credit. StraighterLine helps all adult learners, regardless of major, educational experience, or economic status, get a quality education online, flexibly, conveniently and affordably. This year, over 20,000 students will choose from more than 50 courses and more than 100 ways to earn college credit. StraighterLine’s customized degree plans show students how they can save up to $15,000 and get their dream degrees at America’s best online colleges on the road to careers in today’s fastest growing, most desirable fields, including Business, Engineering, Criminal Justice, Healthcare, Nursing, Psychology and Education/Teaching. “With careers in the STEM fields booming, our students are demanding more online courses that can support those degrees.
