WASHINGTON, D.C. - StraighterLine (www.straighterline.com), a new online education solution that provides students a high quality, better supported, and lower cost way to obtain college credits through regionally accredited colleges and universities, has announced that it has revamped its curriculum to consist of six entry-level courses and two developmental courses that will help students to prepare for the entry level courses. The developmental courses are Introductory Algebra and Developmental Writing. The six entry-level college courses are as follows:
- College Algebra
- English Composition I
- Accounting I
- Accounting II
- Economics I: Macroeconomics
- Economics II: Microeconomics
StraighterLine officially launched in May 2008 with four entry-level curriculum courses where credit can be transferred: College Algebra, English Composition, Economics I and Accounting I. There are no prerequisites required to take Accounting II or Economics II - students can take any course they prefer in any order, and some may have already taken the first courses earlier. However, Accounting II and Economics II do build upon StraighterLine's Accounting I and Economics I courses. More courses are planned to be added in the future. Courses have no fixed start or due dates and can be completed at each individual student's pace. StraighterLine represents the only online education source providing up to 24/7 on-demand instructional guidance. The program leverages online tutors for SMARTHINKING, an award-winning market leader in providing online tutoring and academic support to students. To date, SMARTHINKING has provided more that 1 million tutoring sessions to college students. Students who take a StraighterLine course can select a partner college associated with the program to award credit for the course. They can continue their major studies and pursue their degree through that college, or they can transfer those credits to non-partner colleges that recognize StraighterLine's partner's courses as equivalent programs. Additional information on the StraighterLine program, including a list of all partner colleges, can be found at www.straighterline.com or by visiting the StraighterLine blog at www.mmimarketing.com/blog/?author=straighterline.
