How to Enter

Beginning on October 4, 2023 at 9 AM Eastern Standard Time through October 31, 2023 at 5 PM Eastern Standard Time, follow @StraighterLine on TikTok and post a video showcasing how StraighterLine has helped you “hack” (advance) your college or career goals, with the account @StraighterLine tagged and the hashtag #HackEducation on your TikTok account for a chance to win the Prize, as defined below. The entry video caption must state that the video is being posted in connection with the StraighterLine Contest using hashtags #StraighterLineContest and #HackEducation. You may enter into this contest (the “Contest”) only once per TikTok account. Entry into this Contest serves as consent for StraighterLine to re-post your video entry for promotional purposes. Use of any robotic, automatic, programmed, or similar entry method or entering more than the number of times permitted will void all entries and result in disqualification. This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, TikTok.

Video Entry Requirements

For a video entry to be valid, it must describe how any StraighterLine course or product has helped the entrant with his or her educational or career goals, or how StraighterLine can help someone with achieving their college and career goals. The video must not exceed two (2) minutes in length and shall not contain any explicit or vulgar content.

Entrants may not submit video content that contains any elements that violate a third party's copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights. Submitted video content shall not depict any individual that has not granted permission to be featured.

Eligibility

This Contest shall be open to residents of the United States that are [16 years of age and older] as of October 4, 2023, except for employees of StraighterLine, Inc., a Delaware corporation (the “Sponsor”) and their affiliates, subsidiaries, and agencies (collectively “Promotion Parties”), and members of their immediate family. Void where prohibited.

Winner

The winner of the Contest will be selected from all eligible entries received on or about October 31, 2023 by a panel of judges selected from the Sponsor’s marketing team. The panel of judges shall take into account each entrant’s unique story, creativity, impact, adherence to the Contest theme, and informational accuracy when choosing a winner. The winner shall win the Prize described in Section 6. Chances of winning depend on the number of entries received. The winner will be notified by direct message to the winner’s TikTok account. All income taxes resulting from acceptance of the Prize are the responsibility of the winner. By entering this Contest, entrant accepts and agrees to these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, which shall be final in all matters. Acceptance of the Prize also constitutes permission to the Promotion Parties to use the winner’s TikTok username and video entry for marketing purposes without further compensation or right of approval, unless prohibited by law. All federal and state laws apply.

Limitation of Liability

By entering this Contest, entrants waive all right to, and hold the Promotion Parties harmless from, any claim, liability, loss, damage (including punitive, incidental, and consequential damages), or expense (including attorneys’ fees) arising out of or in connection with participation in this Contest or the acceptance, use, or misuse of any prize. The above shall apply to entrants to the greatest extent allowed by applicable law. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. Promotion Parties will not be responsible for: late, incomplete, or incorrect entries; an entrant's failure to receive prize notices due to entrant’s spam, junk e-mail, or other security settings or for entrant’s provision of incorrect or otherwise non-functioning contact information; technical, hardware, or software malfunctions, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incorrect, inaccurate, incomplete, or delayed electronic communications whether caused by the sender or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or used in this Contest; by any human error which may occur in the processing of the entries in this Contest; or any typographical, technological, or other error in the publishing of the offer, administration of the Contest, or announcement of the Prize. If, in the Sponsor’s opinion, there is such an error, or there is any suspected evidence of tampering with any portion of the Contest, or if technical difficulties compromise the integrity of the Contest, Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or modify this Contest in a manner deemed appropriate in its sole discretion. In the event of termination, the winner will be selected from among all eligible entries received as of date of termination.

Prize

The prize shall be one $500 gift card or a $500 check payable to winner (the “Prize”). The total prize value is five hundred dollars ($500). Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal value. All prizes will be awarded. If a potential winner is disqualified for any reason, Sponsor will award the Prize to an alternate winner chosen by the panel of judges from all remaining eligible entries.

Choice of Law; Arbitration

Entrant agrees that all matters arising out of or relating to this Contest and these Official Rules are governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of Virginia, without giving effect to any of its conflict of laws provisions. Except where prohibited by law, as a condition of participating in this Contest, entrant agrees that: (1) any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, or the Prize, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; and exclusively by final and binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association and held at a AAA regional office in or most closely located to Arlington, Virginia; (2) the Federal Arbitration Act shall govern the interpretation, enforcement and all proceedings at such arbitration; and (3) judgment upon such arbitration award may be entered in any court having jurisdiction.

Release

By participating in this Contest, entrants agree to release Sponsor and any other organizations affiliated with the sponsorship, fulfillment, administration, prize support, advertisement or promotion of the Contest and each of their respective parents, agents, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, and prize suppliers, and each of their respective officers, directors, agents, representatives and employees, as well as each of their respective successors, representatives and assigns (collectively, the "Released Parties") from any and all actions, claims, injury, loss or damage arising in any manner, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from participation in this Contest and/or acceptance, use or misuse of the prize.

Disclosure of Winner

The disclosure of the winner may be obtained by contacting the Sponsor after December 1, 2023. Except where prohibited by law, entry constitutes permission to use each entrant's name, hometown (city and state), voice, likeness, photograph and any statements regarding this Contest in all media now known or hereafter discovered, for any purpose, including without limitation, in connection with, and to promote, market or advertise, the Contest, in whole or in part, without review, approval, credit or attribution, notification or payment from or to entrant or any person or entity, worldwide, in perpetuity, or on a winner's list, if applicable. This Contest is subject to all applicable U.S. federal, state and local laws and regulations.
