SNHU’s Online Human Resource Management Degree

SNHU’s newest undergraduate degree program, its Bachelor of Science (BS) in Human Resource Management, was built in direct response to job opportunities in the market as well as demand from students. The program was designed to align with the Society for Human Resource Management's Body of Applied Skills & Knowledge™ (SHRM BASK™). competencies. It was strategically developed with the support and guidance of industry-based experts who have active roles in human resources across a broad spectrum of industries. Several of these subject-matter experts also comprise the adjunct faculty team, many of whom are credentialed in Human Resources from one of many professional industry organizations. This 120-credit online program is comprised of:

  • General Education courses (42 credits)
  • Business core (30 credits)
  • Major courses (21 credits)
  • Major electives (12 credits: 6 dictated and 6 free electives)
  • Free electives (15 credits)

The courses that make up SNHU’s undergraduate Business core will teach you the general knowledge and skills needed for the profession. The major electives and free electives offer the opportunity to customize your HR pathway or take advantage of SNHU's generous transfer credit policy. For example, two elective courses were built specifically for this degree program for students looking to specialize in talent management.  Assignments are authentic scenario-based learning opportunities based on questions, problems, and assignments you will find in HR jobs across all industries. Integrated experiences in the courses are designed to challenge you with opportunities to analyze problems, apply learning, and respond to “employees” in a video environment. Also embedded into the coursework are industry-recognized credentials from HRCI, providing the opportunity to earn credentials that can be added to your resume or LinkedIn profile before even earning your degree. Among these is prep work for HRCI’s Associate Professional in Human Resources (aPHR) certificate. No internship is required for this program, however, there’s opportunity for students who desire to take an internship to earn credit towards their free electives. Students are responsible for identifying and securing internships, but SNHU’s Internship team will vet the relevancy and authenticity of placements so you can feel confident the hard-earned experience will be applied toward your degree program.
