Jefferson Community and Technical College Tuition Rates

Keeping tuition low is important to Kentuckians, and JCTC (along with the other KCTCS colleges) is the best value in postsecondary education in Kentucky. With tuition rates less than one-half those of the state’s regional universities and two-thirds less than the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville, JCTC provides Kentucky what it needs right now – real opportunity for real people in real time.

Tuition rates include distance learning programs regardless of where student is located.

  • Resident tuition - $130 per credit hour
  • Contiguous Counties - $260 per credit hour (counties which border Kentucky)
  • Non-resident Tuition - $445 per credit hour

A StraighterLine student who takes full advantage of StraighterLine’s subscription offering and then enrolls at JCTC to complete an associate degree and then transfers to a four-year college to earn a bachelor degree can save even more.[1]

For example, a Kentucky resident who (1) successfully completes all nine StraighterLine courses over 8 months, (2) enrolls at JCTC and finishes the necessary course work to earn an associate degree on time and (3) then transfers to one of Kentucky’s 4-year public universities (such as the University of Kentucky or the University of Louisville) to earn a bachelor degree can ultimately save 70%+ over those first two years (versus tuition cost if that person enrolled directly in a 4-year degree program) – more than $12,000!  Potential savings for non-residents would be even greater.

[1] Students who complete all nine of StraighterLine’s courses on the same pace as a traditional semester schedule (ie, 15 credits per 4-month semester) will have a subscription lasting 8 months (though students can and do move faster).  On this basis (and including the one-time $39 per course fees), these nine courses and 29 credits ultimately would cost $1,143 in total, or $39.41 per credit hour.
