Jefferson Community and Technical College Application Process

Applying to JCTC is quick and simple.  Apply whenever you are ready via JCTC’s on-line application (http://jefferson.kctcs.edu/Admissions/How_to_Apply.aspx) – the online application is free!

Students who wish to continue studying on-line should apply through the college’s eLearning site (http://legacy.jefferson.kctcs.edu/elearning/).

JCTC is open enrollment, which means if you have graduated from high school, earned a GED or are eligible to take the GED, you’ll be admitted to JCTC.

You’ll need to provide your high school transcript with graduation date (you can get this by contacting your high school) or GED results.  If you have attended another postsecondary institution (whether or not any credit was earned), you must also have an official transcript sent from all previously attended colleges to the JCTC admissions office, showing eligibility to return to the most recently attended college.  It typically takes up to 2-3 weeks for transcripts to reach JCTC after they have been requested so you should plan accordingly.

Official transcripts should be sent to:

Admissions Office, JCTC
109 E. Broadway
Louisville, KY 40202

Transcript hours should be posted by the end of the student’s first semester.  Given this timeline, it is recommended that the student have an unofficial transcript available for use when registering for classes.

For StraighterLine courses you wish to transfer to JCTC upon enrollment, you just e-mail your StraighterLine course advisor to have your StraighterLine transcript forwarded to JCTC – it’s that easy!  The letter grade you earn with StraighterLine will be posted on your JCTC transcript.[1]

When you successfully complete MAT 101 (College Algebra) AND ENG 101 (English Composition I) with StraighterLine you are not required to submit to JCTC a COMPASS assessment or ACT score.  For more information on admission guidelines, link here (http://jefferson.kctcs.edu/Admissions/Admissions_Guidelines.aspx).

Admission into culinary arts, human services, nursing and most allied health programs at JCTC is based on selective criteria specific to each program.  If you’re interested in the admission criteria for these programs, you should contact a career counselor in JCTC’s Advising Center (http://jefferson.kctcs.edu/Academics/Advising_Center.aspx).

After receiving your completed application and other forms, the JCTC admissions office will notify you of your admission status.

[1] JCTC grants full letter grades only.  By way of example, if you receive a grade of “B+” or “B-“ for a StraighterLine course, this will be reflected as a “B” on your JCTC transcript.
