Scholarship Details
How to apply
In order to be considered for the scholarship, you must submit an essay of at least 200 words by 11:59 PM EST, June 1, 2011. The essay submission must also include a separate description of your job of at least 20 words. And being a full-time mom counts as a job! (Anybody who has ever been one knows just how hard a job it really is.) Don’t forget to include your full name and email address so we can contact you if you’ve won. Email submissions to: MomScholarship@straighterline.com.
Who can apply
Applicants must be a working mom or a member of her family: spouse, children, parents. Any of you are encouraged to tell us why your mom/wife/daughter wants to go back to school, and what it would mean to your family.
Selection
All essays received by the deadline will be reviewed by StraighterLine. The essay chosen will be the one that, in our opinion, presents the most compelling description of what going back to school will mean for the mom and her family. The three runners up will be the next most compelling stories. NOTE: This is not a contest. No applicants will be considered without both the +200 word essay and the +20 word job description – and remember, being a mom counts as a job!
If you are awarded the scholarship
We will award the scholarship on June 15, 2011. We will notify the scholarship recipient and the three runners up by email. If your essay is chosen, you will be asked for a recent picture showing you and your family for posting on our blog along with the essay and for inclusion in a press release about the scholarship recipient – which you’ll get to see and approve before release.
