Why Summer School is for Smarties

Why Summer School is for Smarties

Here are some great reasons to take online college courses during the summer . . .

1 - You can test out possible college majors.

Taking a course in science or business, for example, can be a great way to evaluate a possible specialization or career path.

2 - You can learn a skill that can help you qualify for a specific job.

If you’re applying for a job in the growing healthcare fields, for example, summer could be a great time to learn more by taking a course in medical terminology.

3 - If you’re a high school student, you can use summer courses to improve your chances of getting into college.

The right online course can even help you pass AP and CLEP exams and earn valuable credits before you arrive on campus.

4 - If you’re in college, you can use summer courses to complete some core curriculum courses.

If you tackle them over the summer, they won’t clog up your schedule during the school year.

We have close to 100 partnership schools, see if your school is listed!

5 - You can use summer courses to get better prepared for classes that you will take in the fall.

Think of it as “frontloading” to help you earn a better grade and lighten your workload when school starts again in the fall.

You can also take a course in something that you’d like to learn about.  (Heck, learning can be fun, right?)  So you see, there are plenty of reasons to take courses during the summer. And if you want to save some serious money and time, you can take them in the most convenient way possible – online.

    Hello,

I was wondering how long courses are, when it would be available... would it be available over summer? and can this credit be transferred to UC credit?

      Great questions!

All of StraighterLine's courses are completely self-paced so students can sign up for and start our courses at anytime they choose. So you can start over the summer if you would like. Since the courses are self-paced the time needed to complete the course can vary by student but for most students the course will take 75 hours to complete. Credit transfer will vary depending on the school so you will definitely want to contact one of our Student Advisors at 877.787.8375 to discuss further.
